ABOUT US
Founded in 1964 as the Bichon Frise Club of San Diego, Inc., further referred to as the BFCSD, is a group of Bichon owners representing the Southern California area. We meet monthly at members homes on the second Saturday of the month. Programs and discussions concerning the responsible ownership along with planning of our annual specialty show are topics of club meetings.
Membership has varied over this long period of time. We have a number of pet owners as well as breeders and show exhibitors. In addition we have several members who are judges in each of the disciplines of Conformation, Obedience and Agility for the AKC. We also have dogs active in Therapy Dog work.

Historically our club is intertwined with the national organization, The Bichon Frise Club of America, as we hosted the first recorded Bichon Frise match in the United States on July 10th, 1961. Founders of both clubs are members of our club today. In 1973 when our breed was recognized by the AKC we hosted the first approved event, a Sanctioned Match in Las Vegas. In 1976 we hosted the First National Specialty at which points toward an AKC Champion was won. Several of our members have held offices in the national organization.

SOME OF THE AMAZING THINGS WE DO FOR THE BREED...
Our Bichon Frise Club: A Labor of Love for Our Furry Friends
Welcome to the heart of our Bichon Frise Club of San Diego, where our love for these fluffy companions drives everything we do. We're all about preserving the essence of the Bichon Frise breed, sticking closely to the guidelines set by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to ensure that each Bichon we breed embodies the very best of the breed.

Breeding: It's All About Quality and Tradition
Our breeding program is steeped in tradition and aimed at producing Bichons that not only meet but exceed the AKC standards. We're meticulous about health checks, genetic screenings, and responsible breeding practices, all aimed at ensuring the health, temperament, and physical characteristics of each Bichon we bring into the world.

Conformation and Agility: Where Beauty Meets Brains
But it's not all about breeding – we love to showcase the talents of our Bichons too! From strutting their stuff in conformation shows to zipping through agility courses with grace and agility, our furry friends prove time and again that they're more than just pretty faces – they've got brains and athleticism to boot!

Rescue: Extending a Helping Paw
And let's not forget about our commitment to rescue. We're passionate about giving back to the Bichon community by supporting rescue efforts through fundraising, volunteering, and spreading awareness. Every Bichon deserves a loving forever home, and we're here to make sure they find it.
In the end, our Bichon Frise Club isn't just a club – it's a family united by our love for these adorable white fluffballs. Whether we're breeding, competing, or rescuing, our dedication to preserving the Bichon Frise breed shines through in everything we do, ensuring a bright future for these lovable pups for generations to come.
